We are proud to let you know that one of our photos of Kina Grannis made the cover of Pollstar Magazine, a trade publication covering the worldwide concert industry. There is also an online article here. Recently, Kina has been blowing up the music industry with her latest video, “In Your Arms,” which is stop motion video featuring a gazillion (alright, we’re exaggerating, but it’s really a lot of) jelly beans. She even appeared on Ellen and has appeared in numerous other publications. You may recall that Kina is one of our favorite indy music artists and that we blogged about her about a year ago.
So you’re probably wondering, if Darren and Mike are portrait and wedding photographers, why are they blogging about a musician? Quite simple: we are big fans of Kina Grannis. Not only is she talented, but she’s a perfect example of dreaming, working hard, sprinkling in a little bit of luck and you’ll get to spend your time doing what you love and for her that’s creating music. Remember how your parents taught you about dreaming and working hard for those dreams, when you were little? And so while you may not know Kina now, you may sometime soon. She’ll “Never Say Never“, she’ll work hard to create beautiful music for her fans… (haha, you like that Justin Bieber reference?) He’s another great of example of a combination of hard work and talent. You have to really admire their hard work and how it’s reached out to all parts of the country, and that’s why we support Kina.
She was an independent music artist for a while, but recently signed with a small label and is going on tour within the next month. So check out her website for tour dates! Kina’s Website is: www.KinaGrannis.com. And follow her on Twitter: www.twitter.com/kinagrannis
The photos below are from her El Rey Concert back in December.

The other week we had the privilege of being invited to the South Shore Harbour Country Club for their open house. They graciously opened their doors to the public so prospective brides can check out their place and chow down on their scrumptious food and goodies. Not only that, but they invited a bunch of other wedding vendors to share in the fun and show off their stuff. Cool place, good people, good food, what more could you ask for?

All you needed was a red carpet and anyone strolling by the Jack Art Gallery in Atlanta that night would believe the latest Hollywood flick to challenge Avatar‘s box office supremacy was making its unveiling there. Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of shooting our good friend, Varune’s, black and white formal birthday party. Approximately 100 of Varune’s closest friends from Atlanta and afar arrived in their latest monochromatic threads, giving us the illusion that we were walking through a real life Bloomingdales fashion catalog. After shooting photos on this momentous evening, we can undoubtedly say that fresh hors d’oeuvres, good company, tasty wine, and groovy tunes played by the DJ equate to one fun birthday evening.
